Pianist/harpsichordist/improviser Anthony Romaniuk inhabits a diverse musical environment incorporating solo recitals, concertos, chamber music and baroque basso continuo alongside frequent forays outside the classical realm.

His repertoire spans several centuries; from Byrd, Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Brahms – often on historical instruments – to Crumb, Ligeti and 21st-century industrial noise and ambient music.

Frequent collaborators include Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Pieter Wispelwey, Vox Luminis and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Other noteworthy collaborations in the 2018/19 season include performances with Danish Indy rock band Efterklang, the Australian Piano Quartet; as well as Schumann and Liszt lieder with young star tenor Reinoud Van Mechelen.

Highlights of the 2018/19 season include solo and chamber performances in the Festival Maggio Musicale (Florence), Wigmore Hall (London) and Bozar (Brussels) in addition to a tour of the U.S.A and Canada with Vox Luminis; appearances with the Stuttgart Kammerorchester; and further development of his collaboration with DJ/composer Jorge Sanchez-Chiong.

A solo disc, slated for release in 2019, will focus on juxtaposing old and new music with improvisations on several different keyboard instruments. His work on Patricia Kopatchinskaja’s 2015 duet-disc “Take Two” was widely acclaimed, particularly his improvisations on Bach’s chaconne. He will also be featured on Efterklang’s upcoming new record.

The season of 2017/18 was highlighted by performances with Kopatchinskaja; Feldman’s “Piano and String Quartet” with the JACK quartet; appearances with the Orchestra Della Toscana; and solo recitals, notably in the Ojai Festival (California).
